Our partnership allows you to earn Velocity Points per $ spent when flying in an eligible fare class on eligible Link Airways operated flights with a FC or VA flight number2. Book a flight to one of Link Airways’ many domestic destinations and start earning Velocity Points.

How many Velocity Points will I earn?

Link Airways operated flight with a VA flight number (VA)

The number of Velocity Points you earn when flying on Link Airways operated flights with a VA flight number* is based on the dollars spent on the ticket, so the more dollars you spend, the more Points you earn1 . ​​​​​​

Link Airways operated flight with a FC flight number

The number of Velocity Points you earn when flying on Link Airways-operated flights with a FC flight number is based on the fare class you are traveling and dollars spent on the ticket, so the higher your fare type, the more Points you earn1 2. ​​​​​​

For travel from 16 January 2024 through 1 April 2025.

Important Information when flying on Link Airways:

  • Status Credits cannot be earned on Link Airways operated flights with a FC flight number.

  • It is not possible to use Velocity Points to book a Reward seat on Link Airways.

  • Velocity Points cannot be earned on:

    • Any booking class other than the fare classes stated in the table above.

    • Charter flight bookings

    • Any ancillary fees purchased in conjunction with the fare or any zero priced fares.

Claim missing Points

To ensure you automatically earn Velocity Points on your eligible travel, add your Velocity membership number to your booking prior to travel. You can add your Velocity membership number when you book your flight or call the airline directly to get it added to your booking or present your My Velocity Card at check-in.
It can take up to 14 days after your flight for your Points to be added to your Account. 

Flown recently and missing some Points?

If your Points have not been credited after 14 days, or if you forgot to add your Velocity membership number prior to travelling, you can submit a missing Points claim.

Please submit your missing Points claim by completing the missing Point claim form on the Link Airways website.

 If you’re flying between Sydney and Canberra on a flight operated by Link Airways with a VA flight number, please submit a missing Points claim form by logging into your Velocity Account and select Virgin Australia in the drop down list.

How many Points will my business earn?

Each time you book a Link Airways flight via the Virgin Australia Business Flyer Booking Portal, your business' nominated TMC, the Guest Contact Centre or via virginaustralia.com provided your membership number (ABN) is included, your business will earn Velocity Points on flight bookings to regional destinations, including New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania from Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Sydney.4 The more you travel the more Velocity Points your business will earn.

Simply book a Link Airways operated flight with a VA flight number, travelling in an eligible fare class and your business will earn Velocity Points per dollar spent, according to your membership Tier.4

The higher the Tier, the more Points your business will earn:

Terms and Conditions

^ From 2 April 2025, Velocity members that have earned Points from spending with an eligible Velocity Points earning credit card within the 12 months prior to flying with Virgin Australia or Link Airways will earn 5 Base Points per $1 spent on the All-Inclusive Fare when flying on a Virgin Australia operated flight with a VA flight number, or a Link Airways operated flight with a VA flight number (VA). The ‘ Base Points’ refers to the minimum number of Points that can be earned by a Red member when flying with Virgin Australia. The ‘All Inclusive Fare’ includes base fare, taxes (including GST), fees and carrier charges and excludes seat selection purchase and other extras, such as Economy X, Preferred Seating, Baggage Allowance or Carbon Offset.  As at 17 October 2024, the Velocity Credit Cards that are eligible to earn 5 Base Points per $1 spent on the All-Inclusive Fare earn include: American Express Velocity Gold Card, American Express Velocity Escape Card, American Express Velocity Platinum Card, American Express Velocity Business Card, Bank of Queensland Signature Velocity Card, Bank of Queensland Specialist Platinum Velocity Card, Westpac Altitude Mastercard Platinum, Westpac Altitude Mastercard Black, Virgin Money Virgin Australia Velocity Flyer Card and, Virgin Money Virgin Australia Velocity High Flyer Card. This list is subject to change at Velocity’s discretion.

Earn Rates are subject to change, and subject to any black out period notified at the time of booking by Velocity, Virgin Australia or Link Airways. Flights are governed by the operating carrier's terms and conditions, which can be viewed on the operating carrier's websites. Members travelling on Upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of Upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Points based on originally purchased fare classes. Link Airways Business Discounts (Link Business Discounts): As at 7th November 2024, the following discounts apply to Virgin Australia base fares (which excludes fees, carrier charges and taxes) of Virgin Australia marketed and Link Airways operated flights (with a VA flight number) booked by Virgin Australia Business Flyer members (Members), which may change without notice:

5. Link Airways Business Points Earn:Virgin Australia Business Flyer members (Members) will earn Velocity Points when Travellers fly on eligible Link Airways operated flights with a VA flight number (Choice Fare Classes T, Q, P, N, O, L, K, B, Y) bookable via on Eligible Booking Channel as follows: 

  • Tier 1: 1 Point per AUD $1 spent on an eligible fare
  • Tier 2: 1.5 Points per AUD $1 spent on an eligible fare
  • Tier 3: 2 Points per AUD $1 spent on an eligible fare

Please note that Velocity Points cannot be earned on certain fees or charges (e.g. baggage charges and credit card surcharges). Travellers travelling on upgraded fares that were purchased with Points or by bidding for an upgrade will earn as per the rules of the original fare class purchased. An Eligible Booking Channel is: 1. the Virgin Australia Business Flyer Booking Portal, 2. www.virginaustralia.com provided that the Member’s ABN is included, 3. the Member’s nominated TMC, and 4. the Guest Contact Centre.

Please note that Members can earn up to 1,000,000 Velocity Points per annum for travel on flights marketed and operated by Virgin Australia or flights marketed by Virgin Australia and operated by eligible partner airlines (with a VA flight number) (including Link Airways) based on the rolling 12-month period from when the Member joins Virgin Australia Business Flyer.

Membership and Points earn is subject to the Virgin Australia Business Flyer Terms and Conditions and Velocity Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions, and any changes to the Member benefits and program features, including Points earn for eligible travel on flights operated Link Airways, will be governed by those Terms and Conditions. Velocity collects and handles your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy, and Virgin Australia Business Flyer collects and handles your personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.

6. Velocity Frequent Flyer Points Earn: If the indvidual flying with Virgin Australia or a partner airline is a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, they may also earn Velocity Points on eligible flights in accordance with the Velocity membership Terms and Conditions.

7. Virgin Australia Business Flyer Account Administrators can transfer Points earned by the Virgin Australia Business Flyer member to a Velocity Frequent Flyer member, provided that (a) there is a minimum of 3,000 Points per transfer; and (b) the Velocity Frequent Flyer member transferee is directly employed or contracted by the Virgin Australia Business Flyer member.

*Virgin Australia Business Flyer membership is available to businesses with an active ABN/ACN and an Australian business address that spend less than $300K per annum on flights with Virgin Australia. The business cannot be a Superannuation fund, travel agent, travel management company, travel wholesaler, air travel consolidator or anyone re-selling air travel.
